Way out West (incorporating Way up North)

Indian Summer

The burst of sunshine that we've had for the past couple of weeks seems to have thrown the house martins into all sorts of confusion. Before this good weather started they had been gathering in large numbers on the telephone wires in preparation for their migration. They seemed to have left, but now that the sun is out they've all come back again. I do hope they have enough sense to bugger off soon. Every other creature seems to be trying to move into my house, in preparation for the winter, I find butterflies easier to evict than cluster flies.

Suddenly they were all gone, and my hut is besieged by wagtails. They did seem to leave it as late as possible though.
